Tennis elbow is a type of tendinitis that causes pain around the outside of the elbow and arm. It is medically known as lateral epicondylitis. Swelling of the tendons is known as tendinitis.   • Try strengthening exercises with hand weights. With your elbow cocked and your palm down, repeatedly bend your wrist. Stop if you feel any pain.
  • Rest the elbow when bending and straightening are painful.
